The PSS 02-45M-300 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine environments, ensuring a secure and leak-free connection between your shaft and stern tube.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is fixed to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows to maintain constant contact between the rotor and flange. This pre-load allows the PSS to adapt to variations in shaft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is over-bored to match the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and effectively accommodate misalignments and vibrations. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring no wear occurs during operation.
