The PSS 02-434-800 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance and reliability in marine applications. Designed with advanced technology, it ensures a robust seal that withstands the rigors of water exposure while minimizing maintenance needs.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows using hose clamps, while the bellows itself fits over the stern tube, also secured by clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being fixed to the shaft with set screws. This compression ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adjust for any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignments and vibrations effectively. The rotor is sealed to the shaft by two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, eliminating wear during operation.
