The PSS 02-434-714 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliable performance in marine applications. This innovative Type B seal utilizes a mechanical face seal design, featuring a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The sealing mechanism is established between the flat surfaces of these components, ensuring maximum efficiency.

The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also held in place by hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, where it compresses the bellows, ensuring constant contact between the rotor and flange. This pre-load adjustment allows the PSS seal to adapt to varying fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust.

Designed to accommodate misalignment and vibration, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" around the shaft. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, preventing wear during operation.
