The PSS 02-434-700 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for high-performance marine applications, ensuring reliable sealing under various conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely mounted to the bellows with hose clamps, while the bellows itself fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured with clamps. Positioned in front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor is attached to the shaft, where it compresses the bellows before being fastened with set screws. This pre-load ensures a consistent seal by maintaining contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the system to adapt to the shifting movements caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignments and vibrations effectively. Additionally, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the assembly and are protected from wear during operation.
