The PSS 02-414-634 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications, designed to prevent leaks while accommodating movement and vibration. This innovative seal ensures a reliable connection between the shaft and the stern tube, promoting efficient operation.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, comprised of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. This design creates a sealing surface that minimizes potential leaks. The carbon flange is secured to the bellows through hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is installed on the shaft, compressing the bellows, which maintains consistent contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. This pre-load design allows the PSS seal to effectively adjust to the shaft's movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange's over-bored design permits a 'floating' motion around the shaft, addressing alignment and vibration issues. The seal's stainless-steel rotor is fastened to the shaft using two O-rings, which are recessed to avoid wear during operation. These O-rings rotate with the assembly, ensuring a durable and effective seal.
