The PSS 02-414-512 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliable performance in marine environments. This advanced mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design that effectively accommodates for movement and misalignment, ensuring optimal sealing under various conditions.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat faces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube and is held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows before being fastened with set screws. This pre-load keeps constant contact between the rotor and the flange, allowing the system to adjust for changes in position caused by propeller thrust.

To further enhance its functionality, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration. The sealing integrity is maintained by two O-rings that rotate with the shaft, preventing wear and ensuring longevity.
