The PSS 02-412-700 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications. This mechanically advanced device provides a dependable seal for stern tubes, ensuring a reliable operation while minimizing leaks.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal mechanism. It integrates a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange to create a stable sealing surface. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube, also held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, exerting pressure on the bellows prior to being locked onto the shaft with set screws. This pre-loading action guarantees consistent contact between the flat faces of the rotor and flange, accommodating any axial movement resulting from propeller thrust. Furthermore, the carbon flange is designed to exceed the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" around the shaft and thereby addressing misalignment and vibrational challenges. To enhance sealing effectiveness, the rotor is anchored to the shaft with two O-rings nestled in the collar's bore, allowing these O-rings to rotate with the shaft and rotor, thus preventing wear during use.
