PSS 02-412-614 - Dripless Shaft Seal 4 1/2", 6 1/4" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-412-614 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for superior performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal features a sophisticated design that ensures a reliable seal between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange.
In this system, the stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end fits snugly over the stern tube. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, compressing the bellows to maintain a constant contact between the rotor and flange, accommodating any movement due to propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to “float” around the shaft, effectively addressing misalignment and vibration issues.
The stainless-steel rotor is sealed against the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the assembly and resist wear over time. This design allows for exceptional durability and performance under various operating conditions.
