The PSS 02-412-612 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide a reliable sealing solution for stern tubes, ensuring optimal performance in marine applications. This product effectively prevents water from entering the vessel while accommodating the natural movement of the shaft during operation.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, achieving a watertight closure through a unique design. It features a sealing surface formed by the flat faces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps.

Installed in front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor is affixed to the shaft using set screws, with a pre-compression that ensures consistent contact between the rotor and flange. This feature allows the shaft seal to accommodate any forward and backward movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft due to its over-bored configuration, enabling it to address most misalignment and vibration issues.

For added durability, the stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings recessed in the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, reducing wear and tear during operation.
