The PSS 02-412-600 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliable performance in marine environments. This innovative design ensures a secure seal, minimizing water ingress and enhancing the longevity of your vessel's components.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal functions as a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is established between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, which is affixed to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps, fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps at the back end. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned on the shaft, compressing the bellows before it is secured with set screws. This pre-load guarantees continuous contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the system to adjust to any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft due to its over-bored construction, effectively compensating for misalignment and vibrations. Sealing is achieved with two O-rings, which are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
