The PSS 02-412-534 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for marine applications, providing a reliable and efficient sealing solution for stern tubes. This advanced mechanical face seal utilizes a unique construction to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Type B PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surfaces are formed between the flat faces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows, ensuring consistent contact between the rotor and flange. This pre-load allows the seal to adjust for any movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating most misalignment and vibration issues. Sealing is further enhanced by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, rotating with the shaft and rotor without experiencing wear.
