The PSS 02-40M-300 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and performance in marine environments. This mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures a secure and leak-free connection between the shaft and stern tube.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube and is held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows, creating a pre-load that ensures consistent contact between the rotor and flange. This design allows the seal to adapt to the variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and effectively compensate for misalignment and vibration. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
