The PSS 02-40M-214 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance and reliability in marine applications. Its innovative design ensures a secure seal while accommodating the dynamic movements of the shaft.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface forms between the flat faces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is secured to the bellows with hose clamps, while the bellows fits snugly over the Stern tube, also held in place by clamps. The rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows, ensuring constant contact between the rotor and flange. This pre-load allows the PSS to adapt to any fore-and-aft movement caused by propeller thrust. Furthermore, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, effectively addressing misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is also equipped with two O-rings that provide a secure seal without experiencing wear during operation.
