The PSS 02-400-600 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for optimal performance in marine applications. This advanced sealing solution ensures reliable operation while accommodating propeller thrust and shaft misalignment.

The Type B PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where the sealing is achieved between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This pre-compression maintains constant contact between the rotor and flange, effectively compensating for any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, allowing it to adapt to misalignment and vibration issues. Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings that rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring durability without wear during operation.
