The PSS 02-38M-312 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for optimal performance in marine applications. This advanced mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures a reliable and maintenance-free operation.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is established between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, attached to the bellows via hose clamps, allows for easy installation and secure fitting over the stern tube. The stainless-steel rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows before being fixed in place with set screws. This pre-load keeps constant contact between the rotor and flange, accommodating variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, addressing misalignment and vibration issues, while the stainless-steel rotor is sealed with dual O-rings that rotate with the shaft, minimizing wear during operation.
