The PSS 02-38M-214 Dripless Shaft Seal offers a reliable solution for marine applications, ensuring optimal performance and durability. This innovative seal is designed to prevent leakage while accommodating the dynamic movement of the propeller shaft.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, formed between the smooth surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, secured to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, allows the system to adapt to variations in alignment and vibration. The bellows is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with hose clamps.

In operation, the stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows, maintaining a constant preload that ensures consistent contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. This configuration compensates for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft diameter, further enhancing its ability to handle misalignment.

Sealing is achieved through two O-rings that fit snugly into the rotor collar, rotating with the shaft to minimize wear. This design allows the seal to withstand significant operational demands.
