The PSS 02-35M-300 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications, ensuring a watertight seal around the shaft. This innovative product employs a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube and is held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows before being secured to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load ensures continuous contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to accommodate any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust. To further enhance its adaptability, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, mitigating misalignment and vibration. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, providing a durable solution that resists wear during operation. Temperature Limits: 5°F to 225°F (-15°C to 107°C)
