The PSS 02-358-700 Dripless Shaft Seal is an advanced mechanical sealing solution designed for marine applications. This high-quality component ensures a reliable seal between the rotor and flange, preventing water ingress and maintaining optimal performance.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, utilizing a precision-engineered interface between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is secured to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured by hose clamps. The rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows to establish a pre-load that ensures consistent contact between the rotor and flange surfaces. This design allows the shaft seal to accommodate fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust.

To further enhance performance, the carbon flange is over-bored to match the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and effectively handle misalignment and vibration. The seal's integrity is maintained by two O-rings that are recessed into the rotor collar; these O-rings rotate with the rotor and shaft, minimizing wear during operation.
