The PSS 02-358-614 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for superior performance and reliability in marine applications. This mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design to ensure a secure, leak-free environment, enhancing the longevity of your vessel's components.

Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is established between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, affixed to the front side of the bellows with hose clamps, allows the back end of the bellows to fit over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows before being secured with set screws. This compression creates a pre-load, maintaining continuous contact between the rotor and flange, which accommodates the variable movement caused by propeller thrust. Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, effectively offsetting misalignment and vibration concerns. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear over time.
