The PSS 02-358-612 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for optimal performance and reliability in marine applications. This advanced sealing solution employs a mechanical face seal where a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange create a durable sealing surface. The carbon flange, attached to the bellows with hose clamps, fits snugly over the stern tube, ensuring a secure connection.

The stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows, maintaining constant contact with the carbon flange. This pre-load feature compensates for the movement caused by propeller thrust, providing a stable operation. Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to “float” around the shaft, allowing it to accommodate misalignment and vibration effectively. The rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings, which rotate with the assembly and minimize wear during use.
