The PSS 02-358-534 Dripless Shaft Seal is a highly efficient mechanical face seal designed for optimal performance in marine applications. This innovative system utilizes a stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange to create a reliable sealing surface that ensures minimal leakage while accommodating shaft movement.
The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows using hose clamps, while the bellows itself fits over the stern tube, providing a sturdy yet flexible connection. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft and compresses the bellows, maintaining consistent contact with the carbon flange. This pre-load feature allows the seal to adjust to variations in propeller thrust and movement, effectively compensating for misalignment and vibrations. The design includes two O-rings that seal the rotor to the shaft, ensuring durability and wear resistance during operation.
