The PSS 02-358-500 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications. Its innovative mechanical face seal prevents leakage, ensuring optimal operation even under challenging conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This pre-compression maintains constant contact between the rotor and flange, allowing for compensation of any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating most alignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation.
