The PSS 02-334-634 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications. This advanced mechanical face seal features a unique construction that ensures durability and efficiency, making it an ideal choice for stern tube installations.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat faces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, secured to the bellows with hose clamps, is engineered to fit over the stern tube, maintaining a secure connection. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange and is compressed against the bellows, ensuring consistent contact between the rotor and flange surfaces. This design allows the seal to adapt to the variable fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and effectively compensate for misalignments and vibrations. Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings recessed into the rotor collar, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
