The PSS 02-334-412 Dripless Shaft Seal is an advanced mechanical seal designed to ensure reliable operation in marine environments. This innovative component features a unique design that enhances performance and durability.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal to create a secure sealing surface between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is firmly attached to the front side of the flexible bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, where it compresses the bellows. This pre-load ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the PSS to adapt to any fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and reducing vibration issues. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed within the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, remaining unaffected by wear during operation.
