The PSS 02-32M-300 is a top-tier mechanical face seal designed for reliable operation in marine environments. This innovative shaft seal employs a unique sealing mechanism that ensures optimal performance and durability.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is established between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of a flexible bellows using hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellows fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured by hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft ahead of the carbon flange. It compresses the bellows, which is then fastened to the shaft using set screws, creating a pre-load that maintains constant contact between the rotor and the flange. This design allows the seal to adapt to any forward and backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is oversized relative to the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and accommodate misalignment and vibration issues. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear throughout operation.
