The PSS 02-32M-214 Dripless Shaft Seal is a state-of-the-art solution designed for reliable sealing in marine applications. With a robust construction and innovative technology, this product ensures optimal performance under challenging conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal, where a flat surface is formed between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits over the stern tube, also held in place with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange. This rotor compresses the bellows before being fixed to the shaft with set screws, maintaining a constant contact between the rotor and the flange. This design allows the PSS to adapt to variable fore and aft movements caused by propeller thrust. Moreover, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and effectively manage misalignment and vibration issues. The sealing to the shaft is achieved through two O-rings, which are recessed in the collar's bore, allowing them to rotate with the shaft without experiencing wear.
