The PSS 02-32M-212 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance and reliability in marine applications. This mechanical face seal utilizes a sophisticated design that ensures a secure seal between the stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange, effectively preventing leaks.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a stationary carbon flange that is attached to the front side of the bellows using hose clamps. The back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is installed on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, applying compression to the bellows before being secured with set screws. This pre-load is crucial for maintaining constant contact between the rotor and flange, compensating for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibrations. Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings that are recessed into the collar's bore, allowing them to rotate with the shaft and rotor without experiencing wear.
