The PSS 02-314-700 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to ensure a reliable and efficient sealing solution for marine applications. This innovative product minimizes leakage and enhances the performance of your stern tube system.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal employs a mechanical face seal, where the sealing surface is formed between the smooth surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows before being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load ensures consistent contact between the rotor and carbon flange, accommodating the axial movements caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is precisely bored to match the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and adjust for misalignment and vibration issues. Sealing to the shaft is achieved with two O-rings that are recessed in the collar's bore, rotating with the shaft and rotor, thus avoiding wear during operation.
