The PSS Type A Shaft Seal offers a reliable and dripless solution for sealing propeller shafts. Its mechanical face seal design ensures long-lasting performance, with a system that compensates for both vibration and shaft misalignment. • The sealing surface is created between the flat faces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange.
• The carbon flange attaches to the front of the bellows, while the back end of the bellows fits over the stern tube.
• The stainless-steel rotor is secured on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows for consistent contact and sealing performance.
• The system compensates for propeller thrust and variable fore and aft movement.
• The over-bored carbon flange floats around the shaft to adjust for misalignment and vibration.
• The stainless-steel rotor uses two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft, preventing wear during operation.
