The PSS 02-314-612 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide a reliable and efficient sealing solution for marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures optimal performance, even in challenging conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube and is fastened with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, compressing the bellows to maintain constant contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. This compression allows the seal to accommodate the movement caused by propeller thrust.

Notably, the carbon flange is over-bored to match the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and effectively handle misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and do not wear during operation, ensuring durability.
