The PSS 02-314-534 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide a reliable sealing solution for stern tubes. This innovative design features a mechanical face seal, where the sealing occurs between the stainless-steel rotor and the carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, while the bellows itself is fitted over the stern tube and held in place with hose clamps. The rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows, ensuring a tight seal that adapts to movement caused by propeller thrust.

This system is designed to handle misalignment and vibration, as the carbon flange is over-bored to fit the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" around the shaft. Sealing is enhanced by two O-rings that rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation. The PSS shaft seal operates effectively across a range of temperatures and pressures, making it a durable choice for a variety of marine applications.
