The PSS 02-314-500 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and performance in marine applications. This innovative seal utilizes a mechanical face design that ensures a tight seal under varying conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a unique sealing mechanism that consists of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows while the back end fits snugly over the stern tube, both held in place with hose clamps. The rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows, creating a pre-load that maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange surfaces. This design allows the seal to adapt to the movements caused by propeller thrust, ensuring optimal performance even under variable conditions.

Additionally, the carbon flange has been over-bored to match the shaft diameter, enabling it to float around the shaft and compensate for misalignments and vibrations. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, significantly reducing wear during operation.
