The PSS 02-314-434 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliable performance in marine applications. This advanced sealing solution ensures minimal leakage while accommodating the dynamic movements of a boat's propeller.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal design, where a stainless-steel rotor rotates against a stationary carbon flange. This configuration creates an effective sealing surface to prevent water ingress. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which in turn is fixed to the stern tube with hose clamps. The rotor compresses the bellows, establishing a preload that maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange. This feature allows the seal to adjust for any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust.

Moreover, the over-bored carbon flange permits a "floating" action around the shaft, effectively addressing misalignment and vibration issues. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings, which rotate with the assembly and are designed to resist wear throughout operation.
