The PSS 02-312-634 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for superior sealing performance in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal features a unique design that ensures a reliable and leak-free operation even in demanding conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange. It compresses the bellows prior to being secured to the shaft with set screws, which maintains a constant contact between the rotor and the flange. This design allows the seal to adapt to the variable fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration issues. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft by two O-rings, which rotate with the assembly and are protected from wear during operation.
