The PSS 02-312-612 is an advanced dripless shaft seal designed for reliable performance in marine applications. Utilizing a mechanical face seal, it ensures a tight seal between the rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube, providing a robust connection with hose clamps.

The stainless-steel rotor, positioned on the shaft, compresses the bellows to maintain constant contact between the rotor and flange. This pre-load allows the seal to adjust for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is engineered to float around the shaft, which helps mitigate misalignment and vibration issues.

Sealing integrity is enhanced by two O-rings that are recessed into the rotor's collar, ensuring they rotate with the shaft and remain unaffected by wear during operation.
