The PSS 02-312-600 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide a reliable and efficient sealing solution for marine applications. Utilizing advanced mechanical face seal technology, this product ensures optimal performance even in challenging conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the smooth, flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the flexible bellows using hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows is fixed over the stern tube with additional hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is placed on the shaft just before the carbon flange and is designed to compress the bellows. Once the rotor is fixed to the shaft with set screws, this pre-load maintains consistent contact between the stainless-steel rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the seal to adapt to any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Furthermore, the carbon flange is specifically over-bored to match the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and effectively compensate for misalignment and vibration issues. The stainless-steel rotor is insulated from the shaft using two O-rings that are recessed within the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with both the shaft and rotor, ensuring they are not subject to wear during operation.
