The PSS 02-30M-214 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and efficiency, ensuring a dry and secure connection in marine applications. This advanced mechanical face seal features a unique design that accommodates movement while maintaining a dependable seal.

Type A PSS Shaft Seal employs a mechanical face seal mechanism where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows' front side using hose clamps, while the back end fits over the stern tube, also secured with hose clamps. Positioned in front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor is affixed to the shaft and compresses the bellows, creating a pre-load that ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange surfaces. This design allows the seal to effectively adjust for the variable movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is carefully designed to float around the shaft, effectively compensating for misalignment and vibration. Secure sealing is achieved through two O-rings located within the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
