The PSS 02-30M-134 is designed to provide a reliable and efficient sealing solution for stern tubes. Utilizing a mechanical face seal, this product ensures optimal performance by creating a sealing surface between the smooth rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, securely mounted on the front side of the bellows with hose clamps, allows for a robust connection while the back end is fitted over the stern tube, also secured by hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft ahead of the carbon flange and compresses the bellows, guaranteeing constant contact between the two surfaces.

This preload enables the PSS to adapt to changes in positioning due to propeller thrust, while the carbon flange is precisely oversized to accommodate the shaft diameter, allowing it to “float” and adjust for any misalignment or vibrations. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft via two O-rings, which are recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and the rotor, ensuring durability without premature wear.
