The PSS 02-30M-114 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance and durability in marine applications. Engineered with precision, this mechanical face seal consists of a stationary carbon flange and a rotating stainless-steel rotor to maintain an effective seal even under variable conditions.

The sealing mechanism involves the stationary carbon flange, which is mounted to the front side of the bellows with hose clamps. The back of the bellows fits securely over the stern tube, also held in place with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is installed on the shaft, compressing the bellows to ensure a tight fit. This pre-load results in excellent surface contact between the rotor and the flange, allowing for effective compensation of any fore and aft movements created by propeller thrust.

Furthermore, the over-bored carbon flange allows for slight movement around the shaft, helping to address misalignment and vibration issues during operation. The stainless-steel rotor is protected by two O-rings that fit into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft, providing a wear-free sealing action.
