The PSS 02-30M-112 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to provide effective and reliable sealing for marine applications. Its advanced mechanical face seal technology ensures minimal leakage, allowing for smooth operation even in varying conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface forms between the smooth, flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end of the bellows is fitted over the stern tube, also held in place by hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is precisely positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange. This rotor compresses the bellows before being secured to the shaft using set screws, creating a pre-load that maintains constant contact between the rotor and carbon flange. This design helps accommodate any forward or backward movement caused by propeller thrust. Additionally, the carbon flange is over-bored to match the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and effectively handle misalignment and vibrational issues. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings positioned within the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring no wear occurs during operation.
