The PSS 02-300-600 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for reliable performance in marine applications. With a robust mechanical face seal, it ensures effective sealing under a variety of conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a precision-engineered sealing surface formed between the flat interfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange connects to the front section of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear end of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is secured in place with additional hose clamps. Meanwhile, the stainless-steel rotor, positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compresses the bellows prior to being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load creates constant contact between the stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange, enabling the PSS to adapt to the variable movements of the shaft caused by propeller thrust. The carbon flange is designed to over-bore the shaft diameter, allowing it to 'float' around the shaft, thus accommodating most misalignment and vibration challenges. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which are recessed into the collar's bore. As these O-rings rotate alongside the shaft and rotor, they remain protected from wear throughout operation.
