The PSS 02-300-514 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed to deliver superior performance and reliability for marine applications. Its innovative mechanical face seal effectively prevents leaks and ensures optimal functionality under varying conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal employs a mechanical face seal mechanism, where the sealing surface is formed between flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the front side of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back end is fitted over the stern tube and also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is positioned on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, and during installation, it compresses the bellows before being fastened to the shaft with set screws. This pre-load maintains continuous contact between the rotor and the flange, accommodating any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust. Furthermore, the carbon flange is engineered to be over-bored to match the shaft diameter, allowing it to float and effectively compensate for misalignment and vibration issues. Sealing is achieved through two O-rings, which are recessed within the collar's bore and rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
