The PSS 02-234-500 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliability and performance in marine applications. This innovative sealing solution minimizes leakage while accommodating the dynamic movements of the propeller shaft.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal operates as a mechanical face seal, creating a secure sealing surface between the flat areas of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is attached to the bellows' front side using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor, mounted on the shaft, compresses the bellows before being fastened with set screws, ensuring constant contact between the rotor and flange. This design allows the PSS to adjust for variations in fore-and-aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to be over-bored to the shaft diameter, enabling it to "float" and effectively compensate for misalignment and vibration issues. Sealing between the stainless-steel rotor and the shaft is achieved using two O-rings, which are recessed in the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and rotor, ensuring minimal wear during operation.
