The PSS 02-234-414 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for optimal performance in marine applications. This mechanical face seal features a sophisticated design that ensures a reliable and leak-free operation. The unique sealing mechanism consists of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange, which create a durable sealing surface. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows, which fits over the stern tube, ensuring a snug fit with the use of hose clamps.

The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft and compresses the bellows, maintaining continuous contact between the rotor and the carbon flange. This pre-load feature allows the seal to effectively compensate for the shifting movements caused by propeller thrust. Moreover, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibrations, thus enhancing its performance and longevity.

For reliable sealing, the rotor is equipped with two O-rings that rotate with the shaft, minimizing wear during operation. This design ensures the shaft seal can withstand various operational conditions.
