The PSS 02-234-412 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for high performance and reliability in marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal effectively prevents leaks and ensures the longevity of your vessel's stern tube system.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal design, where a flat surface interaction occurs between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely fastened to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, with a pre-load compression applied to maintain a constant contact between the rotor and flange surfaces. This design allows the PSS to adapt to the variable movements caused by propeller thrust.

To enhance performance, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter, allowing it to "float" and accommodate misalignments and vibrations effectively. Sealing is achieved through two O-rings recessed in the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear during operation.
