The PSS 02-214-314 Dripless Shaft Seal offers a robust solution for marine applications, ensuring a reliable seal between the shaft and stern tube. Designed as a mechanical face seal, it features a unique construction that enhances performance and durability.

The sealing mechanism consists of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange, creating a secure interface. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits snugly over the stern tube, also secured by hose clamps. The rotor is installed on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows to maintain constant contact between the two sealing surfaces. This compression compensates for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust, ensuring a tight seal.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, which helps mitigate misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, preventing wear during operation.
