The PSS 02-212-412 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered for reliable performance in marine applications, effectively preventing leaks in stern tube assemblies. This innovative seal features a mechanical face design that ensures a robust sealing surface between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange.

The stationary carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the bellows itself fits over the stern tube and is also held in place with clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft, compressing the bellows to maintain a firm connection with the carbon flange. This pre-loading action ensures constant contact between the rotor and flange, accommodating the dynamic movements caused by propeller thrust.

An added benefit is the over-bored carbon flange, which allows it to float around the shaft, effectively addressing misalignment and vibration issues. The rotor is sealed to the shaft using two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, minimizing wear during operation.
