The PSS 02-212-312 Dripless Shaft Seal is designed for superior performance in marine applications, ensuring a reliable and leak-free operation. This mechanical face seal utilizes a unique design that accommodates the dynamic movements of the shaft.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal features a sealing surface formed between the smooth surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the bellows with hose clamps, while the bellows itself is fitted over the stern tube, also held in place by clamps. Positioned at the front of the carbon flange, the stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows, which is further secured to the shaft using set screws. This pre-loading maintains consistent contact between the rotor and flange, allowing the seal to adapt to forward and backward movements caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed with a diameter that allows it to "float" around the shaft, effectively addressing misalignment and vibration issues. Additionally, the rotor is sealed to the shaft with two O-rings that rotate with the assembly, ensuring minimal wear over time.
