The PSS 02-20M-214 Dripless Shaft Seal is engineered to provide reliable sealing for marine applications. This advanced mechanical face seal features a clever design that ensures optimal performance under various conditions.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal mechanism where a rotating stainless-steel rotor engages with a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows using hose clamps, while the rear of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The rotor, which is mounted on the shaft ahead of the carbon flange, compresses the bellows, ensuring a tight seal with the carbon flange. This compression maintains consistent contact between the stainless-steel rotor and the carbon flange, allowing the seal to adjust for any fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

Additionally, the carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft, accommodating misalignment and vibration, which enhances durability. Sealing is further optimized by two O-rings recessed in the collar's bore, which rotate with the shaft and rotor, minimizing wear over time.
