The PSS 02-20M-212 is a high-performance dripless shaft seal designed for marine applications. This innovative mechanical face seal employs a unique sealing mechanism that ensures reliability and efficiency in preventing leaks.

The Type A PSS Shaft Seal utilizes a mechanical face seal where the sealing surface is formed between the flat surfaces of a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange is securely attached to the front of the bellows with hose clamps, while the back of the bellows fits over the stern tube and is also secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is mounted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange, compressing the bellows before it is secured with set screws. This pre-load maintains constant contact between the rotor and flange, effectively compensating for fore and aft movement caused by propeller thrust.

The carbon flange is designed to float around the shaft due to its over-bored configuration, addressing misalignment and vibration issues. Two O-rings, located in the collar's bore, seal the stainless-steel rotor to the shaft, rotating together without experiencing wear, even under continuous operation.
